Our Story
Three brothers, one shop, and a shed full of forgotten bricks
We are three brothers who grew up with robotics — collectively, we have 45 years of FIRST experience between us.
From a young age our parents were deeply involved in robotics and helped start our school's first FLL team. That first year wasn't great — we hardly won a match. But as any FIRST team knows, those early experiences are where the real value lies.
Years later, we'd each gone through FLL, FTC, and FRC, joining Team 2834, the Bionic Blackhawks, and winning Hall of Fame in 2018. Our team became known for helping launch hundreds of new FLL teams and for hosting FLL States. We all went on to attend Michigan Technological University, where Riley earned a degree in Economics and Physics, Connor earned a degree in Finance, and Duncan is on track to earn a degree in Systems Engineering.
During COVID, our former team, 2834, moved facilities to a new shop — and accidentally left behind years' worth of old FLL board sets, amounting to thousands of LEGO pieces. That's when we realized: most teams have no plan for what happens to their LEGOs once the season's game is over. They're built for a single year, then forgotten.
We came up with the idea to give those bricks a second life, turning them into the baseline capital for a scholarship fund. By donating your team's forgotten LEGOs, you help us help more students get better prepared for life after high school and college.
